The most important and essential food for rabbits is Hay, which should make up 80% of their daily intake.
Fresh food (vegetables, herbs and leaves) is the second most important food, which should be 15% of their daily intake. Feed them only those that are safe for rabbits.
The third most important food is Pellets (fortified and compressed hay), which are a good supplement and can make up 5% of their daily intake.
The fourth and least important food is Treats, which are optional and can be skipped altogether. They are not good for rabbits, but some treats (and ways to give them) are healthier and can add some variety to your bunny’s diet.

First, you should know rabbits are strictly herbivores, which means they can only eat plant-based food with high fiber content. No meat, no flour, dairy products or anything like that.
If you have a pet rabbit or you want to adopt one, you should know how to feed your rabbit. So, based on the Rabbit Food Pyramid, the proper daily rabbit diet should include the following Rabbit Food List:
• Hay (required): 80% daily. Give the amount equivalent to your rabbit’s weight.
• Vegetables (required): 15% daily. Give one cup for each kilogram of your rabbit’s weight.
• Pellets (recommended): 5% daily. Give about 25 g for each kilogram of your rabbit’s weight.
• Treats (optional): Give a teaspoon for each kilogram of your rabbit’s weight every 3 days or more. But you can skip them entirely.
• Water (required): Always fresh, drinkable and available.
